The Age of Jewelry

When we first opened LB, people would ask me: What age are you targeting? My answer was always the same: I am not thinking about age, jewelry is ageless! And they would look at me like they were thinking "poor thing, she has no idea...".

As a buyer, walking thru the trade shows and showrooms, I get a "jewelry high", so many beautiful pieces, all together under one roof! It is accessory heaven! I go around buying everything that I LOVE, that catches my breath, or gives me stomach butterflies! I never consider age.

At the store or the website, our customers are of all ages! I'll prove it to you, by showing who I see wearing these next 2 items.

This David Aubrey necklace: A 50 year old would wear this with a tailored suit. A 25 year old, would wear it with her quirky vintage dress (think "New Girl" Zoey Deschanel).

These Betty Carre earrings: I would wear it with a long flowy maxi dress, at a summer luau (dreaming, right now!). A teen-ager would wear it for Prom, with a gorgeous taffeta emerald green dress.

Get it? So please, don't hesitate when you see a piece that catches your breath, but you think, am I too old for this? Never! Wear what makes you feel beautiful!

New Revamped Website!

Our First Blog Post!

We can't tell you how excited Beth and I are with this new revamped website!

We've been working on it for about 6 months, with new ideas and design. We wanted to bring you a cleaner look and easier navigation. The aspect that we are most excited about are the 4 major categories. Which are "in your face" once you open the site. They are:

Handmade in America- we will feature all the local MD designers and of course, all other amazing ones that we find in this great talented country!

Favorite Designers- these are our core designers, our bread and butter!

Stellar Sellers- no need to explain, we will update it once a month

Cheap & Oh So Chic- that's where you click when you are on a budget, and still need to keep your awesome style updated!

We would LOVE feedback! Let us know how you like it (or not).

Guilty Pleasures

We live in an age of information over load.  There are websites that help people shop, compare, and (let's be honest) judge.   Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Fancy, Instagram.  Ugh!  The list is endless.  I just want someone to say "Hey, Beth, this is cool, look nowhere else, seek out no more information, this is what you are looking for."  Is that too much to ask?

So here's my list.  Call it this week's "Guilty Pleasure List".  Look no further, I have done the research.

1.Tracy Menz Curly Sue Earrings.   Short hair has it's advantages.  However, earrings pose a challenge.  Too big, too small, a never ending battle.  These gold filled beauties are perfect.  They are my stylish statement that goes with literally everything I own.

2. Bison meat.  I was looking for variety to add to my family's poultry and seafood diet.  Buffalo meat is leaner than chicken and has other health benefits as well.  Burgers, chili, meatloaf, you name it.  I love it.

3. Pinterest.  Yup, I'm on board.  I don't pin for others, but my boards have given me a way to compile the things I love.  I find common themes and, as sappy as it sounds, I am learning about myself.  Everyone needs to learn more about themselves.

4. MIKA.  Not familiar with MIKA's music?  In the same vein as Queen, but a little more pop.  Songs like Grace Kelly and Blue Eyes are great for afternoon workouts and Saturdays in the store.  He hit it big in Europe, but alas, has not yet mastered the American audience.  Find him on Pandora and on ITunes.  The link below takes you to one of my favorite songs Billy Brown.

5. Sooki Stackhouse.  I was turned on to these books by a friend/customer Natalie Petti.  They are like an adult Twilight.  The HBO series True Blood is based on the books, but I never really felt a connection with the show.  Need a little break from reality?  Go see Sooki.

So that's it.  My guilty pleasures list this week.  What's yours?
